Have you ever met the family of Hemant Mathur, who had been living in a luxurious house bought by borrowing from the bank for some time before, but suddenly after the death of Hemant Ji in a road accident, the bank auctioned said house due to nonpayment of a loan in the debt recovery process. Now his helpless family is residing in an old and dilapidated house on rent, and due to non-payment of rent for last few months, the landlord has issued the notice to them to vacate his house also.
When I had opposed the habit of spending money with both of his hands by my old friend Dr. Mukul Nath, he not only made fun of me but also told with my other friends that I had the feeling of jealousy for his wealthy life and aristocratic style of living.
Dr. Mukul was a well-known doctor and surgeon of the city and people used to wait for their turn in the busiest schedule of Dr. Mukul Nath for their operation by months to months.
I had only said so much to Dr. Mukul Nath that when you are at the peak of success as a businessman or professional, that time is not just about spending indiscriminately, but it is also time to protect that success in the future. At the time, he told me that I do not have the art of living, nor do I want to see people like them, living wonderfully, specializing in this art of living. Although this allegation was false and baseless, I kept silence only because none of my arguments was going to work at that time. Many times, the person riding on the throne of success also forgets to see that there is no land under the brittle throne and it is just hanging in the air.
A few years ago, I was informed that Dr. Mukul Nath had suddenly been paralyzed and was forced to live in the same wheelchair as a disaster just like his thousands of patients on their wheelchairs. I had seen a magnificent surgeon climbing to the summit of momentary success day by day, but he fell down from his throne hanging in the air in one jerk only.
A great name from the list of successful doctors in the city disappeared forever so quietly in such a way that no one could take notice in this crowded and lively city. All the Degrees of Dr. Mukul Nath were still present, but all his expertise had ended in one stroke.
One evening, disappointed with all the companions of his good days, Dr. Mukul Nath, riding in a taxi with his wife, had come to my house with a prayer of financial help for the marriage of his only daughter. His eyes were filled with tears, and repentant was pasted on his face. Without speaking even a word, he was telling the entire story of his failure in his life.
I did not want to share this second part of Dr. Mukul Nath’s story with anyone, so I changed his real name here. You might be surprised that with all possible financial support on his daughter’s marriage, only I and my family were present from the beginning to the end and at the time of farewell, his daughter wept bitterly keeping her head on my shoulders and not of the shoulder of her father. Her daughter is now happy with her husband, and whenever she comes to her hometown from her marital place, she comes to meet my family and me and treat it as her own family.
